Shir Lynn Ong is a principal in the Singapore office. She first joined Milliman in 2012 but left in October 2018 to join NTUC Income Singapore. Shir Lynn then re-joined Milliman in May 2019.
Experience
Prior to joining Milliman, Shir Lynn worked at Prudential Singapore as part of the Pricing team where she worked on various pricing projects for both life and medical insurance products. She also worked on claims experience studies and conducted product monitoring. In NTUC Income, she led a team looking at par fund management, internal profit reporting, and assisted the Chief Actuary in other strategic initiatives. Her experience at Milliman includes:
- Carrying out appraisal valuations of life insurance companies using Traditional Embedded Value basis in multiple recent merger and acquisition deals, as well as embedded value review projects in various countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and India.
- Reviewing RBC2 calculations for the purpose of profit reporting for a few insurers in Singapore
- Assisting a Singapore insurer with the pricing of participating and unit-linked products
- Providing actuarial support for Appointed Actuary services for companies in Singapore, including work on RBC2 basis
- Performing analysis and assessing potential solutions to help a Singapore insurer manage its participating fund
- Providing support in performing product feasibility studies for insurers in Singapore
- Conducting numerous due diligence support for various potential acquisitions in the South East Asian region
- Performing business planning exercises in relation to bancassurance valuation
- Carrying out Prophet model implementation for an insurer in Indonesia for the purpose of embedded value calculation
- Setting up US GAAP calculations in Prophet for an Indonesian insurer and reviewing the US GAAP calculations and model set up for an insurer in Philippines
- Performing an expense analysis for an insurer in Thailand
